Imation cleaning cartridge products are designed specifically for each tape drive format. The Imation Ultrium Universal Cleaning Cartridge is compatible with Generation 1 and 2 Ultrium (LTO) drives. As the cleaning process is unique to each Ultrium drive, the number of cleanings per cartridge will range from 15 to 50. Drive cleaning is done by shuffling a specific amount of tape over the drive head at a specified cleaning algorithm. Because of the unique cleaning processes, the cartridge was designed to accommodate both Ultrium 1 and 2 drives
