The PathBuilder S500 switches provide one scalable, cost-effective solution for building high ROI access infrastructure. They can support more than 2, 000 broadband access subscribers with an extended flexibility of supporting PPPoE, PPPoATM, and RFC 1483. In addition, they provide a range of tunneling protocol options including IP Security (IPSec), Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP), and Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP).

The PathBuilder device?s unique tunnel switching capability and built-in firewall allows customers to implement a distributed firewall approach, shielding the intranet from business partners with extranet privileges. In addition to its superior VPN capabilities, the PathBuilder tunnel switch can be used as a next-generation router in a traditional routed network, providing high performance, network control, comprehensive security, fault tolerance, multiprotocol connectivity, and cost-saving bandwidth management features.
